Run 10 - Midwinter Madness

When: December 22, 2007, Where: Jakobsberg, Hares: V.D.Viking and Ingrid Larssen

Runners (4): Muki, Escape from Elba (SPOR&DIC virgin and visitor from Champagne Hash), Floater and Clark Kent.

The sort of theme of the run was a cold run and hot drinks and food. So as a pre-run drink we all had a Hot Shot (Galliano, coffe and whipped cream), actually since so few came, we all had two! There were two drink stops, the first included some of Sugar Kane's famous (or rather infamous) glogg with almonds and raisins and 'pepparkakor'. The second hot cocoa with a wee dram of Jamaican rhum. There was quite a lot of wood on the run (stop your childish giggling), and when it got dark it got really dark. Muki tried to do his part as a runner, but only managed the first 1 km runners loop, and chickened out on the second 3 km loop. On the second stop visitor Escape from Elba 'entertained' us all by asking trivia questions. Back at the On-Inn a circle was held as it should be, before we all dove into some hot and tasty goulasch soup, and plenty of beers. All in all we some serious fun. How fun? Well there were six of us and we had beer for twenty, and the day after I had to wash glogg of the walls (When Muki parties he really parties).

Run 11 - Gispert Memorial Run

When: February 11, 2008, Where: Harvest Home, Hare: Floater

A nicely laid trail around the eastern parts of Södermalm (or so the Hare claims), a huge part of the pack just followed the Hare instead of following the trail, me included! Well the runners seemed happy enough when they caught up at the first drink stop, Swedish Renat vodka, down at the Norra Hammarbyhamnen quay close by the Skanstull bridge. They were still quite happy at the beer stop at the top of Vitabergs Parken, but finally at the circle at Nytorget they started to get cold, so it was made mercifully short. There where plenty of SPOR&DIC virgins and returners to give everyone a down-down, and since our main song bird Floater had a sore throat, we only 'sang' the silent version of Swing Low. Then it was ON-INN to Harvest Home for food and beer.

SPOR&DIC 12 - The ScandiJock Hangover Run

For me and Ingrid Larssen it was up bright and early to lay the trail. A significant part of the ScandiJock pack was missing as we set out, but there were enough runners to make sure our efforts of laying long runners' loops wasn't wasted. Actually they worked out so good that the runners didn't have to do any checking, the Hashers had solved them all! The majority of the pack followed the Hashers' trail together with us Hares. Through the outskirts of Observatorielunden (The runners ran up the whole hill!), then through the Ghost Park (Spökparken) and along Drottninggatan, across Norra Latin's yard and a tricky check on-through parts of the Central station. Another long loop around the Karlberg's canal made sure the Hashers were already in place at the drink stop with cold beers in their hands, when the runners came along the other bank. McGoose decided to test the water quality and temperature, both low, by swimming across the canal. RA Hughieee Blllaaarrrggghh eagerly wrote down all sins big and small with a borrowed pen. After the drink stop the trail followed the canal for a bit more, before crossing over to Tegnerlunden where the circle was to be. A few of our foreign visitors decided to second guess us Hares, and of course ended up way behind the pack. This wasn't really a problem as we had to wait for Hughieee Blllaaarrrggghh to translate his short-hand notes into gibberish and for Bruce Almighty to return from the hostel with yet another bottle of uisge beatha, G knows how they managed to carry all those bottles. Well seeing how Hughieee Blllaaarrrggghhhrrr had left all his clothes at home that might be the answer.

Despite not being able to read his own handwriting Hughieee Blllaaarrrggghh did a good solid job of the circle, and I'm sure that everyone that got a down-down deserved it. And thanks to the RA the rain stayed away, and thank G that Tegnerlunden was almost devoid of children and family outings, so we weren't disturbed at all (except for Stockholm's own cosmic man Thomas Di Leva who glided past in a purple robe). After the Hash Hymn, and some more shameless merchandising by the SPOR&DIC Haberdasher (i.e V.D.Viking) we retreated to Dovas City for food, drinks and farewells, and to say good morning to Standing Ovation. It also gave us a last chance to laugh at the poor slobs who were camping at the curb just outside (along one of the busiest streets in Stockholm), waiting 2&1/2 weeks for to buy the newest Grand Theft Auto video game dirt cheap.

SPOR&DIC 13 - The Great North Western Pub Relay Run

When: May 10, 2008, Where: From Bålsta to Sundbyberg, Hares: John Cleese, Hornytail, V.D.Viking, Ingrid Larssen, Standing Ovation, Silly con Feet and Floater

Runners (17 including the hares): V.D.Viking, Marmite, Standing Ovation, Sugar Kane, Floater, Silly con Feet, Laid Bird, Titan Dick, Pippi Longcoking, Spaced Man, Hornytail, Rainman, Missing Link, Muki, John Cleese, Ingrid Larssen.

Stage 1 - Bålsta to Kallhälll, Hares: John Cleese and Hornytail

A short description is needed. Stage 2 - Kallhäll, Hare: V.D.Viking

A nice short run around the hill down along the water front and back again, but with enough backchecks to keep the FRBs happy. Once they understood that on an short trail checks are short too!

Stage 3 - Jakobsberg, Hare: Ingrid Larssen

A somewhat tricky trail around the hospital and back to Juventus a virgin Hash pub in Jakobsberg centrum.

Stage 4 - Barkarby, Hare: Standing Ovation

A very nice run on-over the highway and on-through the Church village (Kyrkbyn). A time for reminiscence for those who attended the 'Around the World' run.

Stage 5 - Spånga, Hare: Silly con Feet

The longest of the stages, which became evident when beers and water were guzzled down afterwards. Also by now the heat were starting to take it's toll.

Stage 6 - Sundbyberg, Hare: Floater

Thank G for short runs, even if it was uphill all the way from the station to Tornparken. Beers were chilly and down-downs were cool, so we all enjoyed a couple each before retiring to restaurant Brunnsgatan for more.

SPOR&DIC 14 - The Swedish National Day Celebration Run

When: June 6, 2008, Where: Central Stockholm, Hares: Titan Dick and Laid Bird

Runners (36): 2 Swedes Cummin', Anti Climax, Big Brother, Big Mouth, Big Tasty, Clever Dick, Ditch Bitch, Duty Free, Floater, Hornytail, John Cleese, Just Carlos (True Virgin), Just Janne (True Virgin), Just Shahid, Just Susanne, King Zebra, Little Brother, Magic Mushroom, Malibog, Marmite, Muki, Pippi Longcocking, Pucko, Red Horse, Silly con Feet, Sonya, Stair Pounding Pussy, Standing Ovation, Sweetmeat (New Name), Swinger, Termite, Tripple Nipple, V.D.Viking, Wet One

A record number for the SPOR&DIC, and perhaps even for all Stockholm kennels on a non-event run. A nice run through Stockholm with drink stops in Tegnerlunden and on Skeppsholmen from where we took on of the boats back to civilisation (although after leading the poor captain on a back check to Grönalund). A rather huge and rowdy circle which included a proper naming, and afterwards a BBQ and plenty of beers.

SPOR&DIC 15 - Gispert Memorial Run

When: July 31, 2008, Where: Gröndal, Hare: Floater

Runners (8): Ingrid Larssen, V.D.Viking, Missing Link, Hornytail, John Cleese, Haegar, Sweet Meat, Laid Bird

A nice run round Gröndal and Trekanten, where Floater's false trails and back checks almost made the runners arrive after the walkers had finished their beers. An indication of a properly laid SPOR&DIC run!. Then after a bit of out of tune singing it was back to the pub for grub and more beers.

SPOR&DIC 17 - The Hashers' Run to the Galaxy

When: November 21, 2008, Where: Jakobsberg, Hare: Ingrid Larssen

Runners (2): Floater and V.D.Viking

While it was a shame that not more Hounds came to this Hash run cum birthday party, we still has a good time, partly because we had plenty of food and beer. The very short live trail laid by Ingrid went halfway around the house, to the back entrance. After a Gin-and-Tonic stop in the utility room (tvättstuga), before taking the elevator short-cut back up to the flat again. The circle was short and intense, and included all the necessary elements; down-downs, out of tune singing (by V.D.) and the Hash hymn. Afterwards it was time for English roast sandwhiches and a Hitch hiker's Guide quiz. Floater did put up a good fight against Ingrid (who had something of an advantage of having seen several of the questions before the run), but there where no real winner.

SPOR&DIC 18 - Finland's Independence Day Run

When: December 6, 2008, Where: Gubbängen to Skarpnäck, Hares: Standing Ovation and Cuming Slowly

Runners (6): Ingrid Larssen, Marmite, Clark Kent, V.D.Viking, Titan Dick and Laid Bird

Five degrees Celcius above zero and a slight drizzle may not be the best premises for a good run, but the Hares managed to keep the packs' interest up for the whole walk. Four drink stops, of which two were finnish related - salmiakki and mintu - and personalized checks. S.O. promised a drawing of the one intended to check it out, and despite what Cuming Slowly said, the viking on the first check still looked like Mickey Mouse to me!. The trail led us invariably towards Skarpnäck with a very atmospheric part on through Skogskyrkogården, were S.O. got lost in the dark laying a live part of the trail. After the walk it was time for circle and plenty of down-downs at casa S.O. The day was ended with a belly full of nice hot chilli and plenty of cold beer.

SPOR&DIC 19 - Booze Crooze the Turd

When: December 17, 2008, Where: M/V Cinderella, Hare: Sugar Kane

Runners (6): V.D.Viking, Ingrid Larssen, Taliban, Four'n'Twenty, Floater and SPOR&DIC Cummer

Yet another leisurely Booze Crooze on Ålands Hav. Plenty of beers in the Hornblower Pub, a shortish run/pub crawl which included a Champagne stop. But there was also a few serious back checks, the worst was that because of Christmas they didn't serve any oysters anywhere on the boat. The second worst was that the Whiskey Bar hadn't openend when we ran so to our dissapointment no Whiskey stop (this we made up for after dinner).
